Math & Science Class Syllabus |
|
Dear Parents/Guardians:
The 8th Grade Math & Science Team is very excited about having your child in their Math/Science core. In order for your student to have a productive year in school, we feel that everyone involved needs to be equally informed of the policies in place in the classroom.
Please read and discuss our grade level syllabus with your student, so that both of you are aware of the policies and procedures that are expected of every student. Once you have read through the packet, sign this cover letter and have your student return it to me. Please keep the page with the homework/grading policies and classroom rules, so that you have the expectations of the class at home.
Your child has been placed in either Core Connections 3 or Integrated Math 1 classes, which will use the College Preparatory Math curriculum (CPM). This class takes the foundation that was laid in 7th grade
Pre-Algebra a step further by applying your child’s knowledge to more complex algebraic concepts. The 8th grade Common Core Math Curriculum will make the transition to high school smooth.
This year the Hanford Elementary School District adopted a new science curriculum, STEMScopes. This hands-on, online curriculum will allow your children to explore the amazing world of science.
The Common Core Standards that your child will be covering are intense and will require daily completion of class work and homework. We encourage you, as the parent, to get involved with your child’s junior high experience. Please check your child’s daily planner to see what homework assignments your child has been given.
If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to e-mail your child's teacher. You may also leave us a message at the following Woodrow Wilson phone number 585-3870. Please do not hesitate to call or send an e-mail to your teacher if you have a question or concern!
